December--1990 I rode a tour bus to Nashville with Brian Hebron, Hebron's drummer and our friend, Brian Charter and Sandy, his girlfriend at the time, now his wife --plus a multitude of others.

That year I was voted Midwest Country News (MCN) Female Vocalist of the Year. Brian Hebron was voted Male Vocalist, and both of us received backstage passes to the Grand Ole Opry and studio time at Hilltop Studios.

Former Iowan, Robbie Wittowski was our host, alson with MCN Editor, Barbara Hays-Ackley.  As Robbie would say, "We had a ball."

Nashville at Christmas-time is amazing. So many lights, so much music, stars, so little sleep.

At Hilltop, I recorded "Silent Love" and Frank's "Blue Mornin'". Brian Hebron recorded his originals ""Someone Like Me" and "Don't Forget to Break My Heart." I still love to hear those two originals, but the recordings in my head are becoming faded.

Backstage at the Grand Ole Opry, Brian, his wife Laurie and I, were allowed to step into the office of Roy Acuff. We had our pictures taken with Roy too.

We had photos taken with Porter Wagoner, Bill Anderson, Partty Loveless and The White Sisters. Dotty West was there that night too. Girls, she looked better in a cat suit than anybody could and she was not a young'un.

Kathy Cash, daughter of Johnny Cash, had a clothing of the stars consignment shop called Encore located in Dollywood. I still have the jacket and camisole that belonged to Cheryl White. It was the white leather skirt and jacket of Roseanne Cash's that I also wanted to buy.  (Ho ho--I simply did not have enough Cash).

Who could forget our tour of Sun Studios? Man, we all thought that Elvis was there. Then we went to Memphis and toured the Kings Mansion. He couldda been there.

We even ventured throuh Butcher Holler--Home and childhood home of Lorretta Lynn.

There was so much more, and all in three days.
I'd do it again if there were a bus load of people that wanted to go.

Seventeen years ago--I still am just as thankful to the people who made it possible, and the people who were with us.
